Impasto Painting

Required Elements Student followed the directions and included all the required elements.	Excellent Student used only palette knives to create the painting. Painting looks thick and/or textured.	Good Student used palette knives and brushes to create the painting.	Fair Student only used brushes.
Timeliness Student used his/her time well and worked efficiently.	Excellent Student used their time wisely and was able to complete the assignment within the allotted time.	Good Student completed the assignment several days before the due date or student rushed through their work.	Fair Student completed the assignment the due date.
Craftsmanship Student's art is tidy and carefully made. Paint was applied thickly so the white of the canvas does not show through.	Excellent Artwork is tidy and it looks like the student took his/her time. Second or third coats were applied when necessary.	Good Artwork has a few areas that could use more paint, blending, etc. that take away from the appearance of the work.	Fair Artwork has numerous areas that could use more paint, blending, etc. that take away from the appearance of the work.
Composition Composition resembles the reference photo. The colors used pair well together or are harmonious and help to create unity in the painting (use of complements, similar values, natural looking, etc.)	Excellent Composition resembles the reference photo. An interesting and unique photo was used that created a painting of the same.
