Draw/trace your hand and add 5 textures

Font should resemble original package. Colors should resemble original package. Final painting should resemble what is seen in the viewfinder. Composition should touch all 4 sides.

Draw a room in one point perspective. Your room must include: 3 walls; 1 door; 2 windows OR 1 window and 1 skylight; Some type of flooring: a rug; tiles, OR wood planks. Collage at least 10 magazine or newspaper images into your room. Your collage/images must draw inspiration from Surrealism.

Create a sketchbook and design a cover with the required elements.

Choose a super hero/villain photo. Cut your project paper to double the size of the chosen photo. Draw a 2 inch grid over the project paper. Draw the chosen photo onto the project paper following what is in each grid square.

Create a pinch pot and turn it into a monster. 1. Monster is created using the pinch method with uniform thickness of approx. 1⁄4”. 2. Score and slip were used to attach features to the monster. 3. Bowl is functional – can hold candy, jewelry, be a planter, etc. 4. Body of monster is covered with textures and finished with paint. 5. Monster must have at least two facial features (eyes, mouth, nose, etc.) and appendages (arms, legs, fins, etc.) These must be sculpted, not painted.

Create a sculpture from Paper Mache.

Create a visual pun or play on words. For example; butter fly (butter with wings)

Create a scratchboard animal portrait that employs the techniques we practiced in class.

Your animal portrait should have: ●Areas of concave and convex. ●Must have areas that show texture: ●Lines, hatching, cross-hatching, etc. ●Shapes, designs (rocks, leaves, tree, spots on an animal, feathers, etc.) ●Mount it to a piece of cardboard. Then do one or both of these options: ●Antique it with India ink or paint it; and/or ●Add a piece of paper or tagboard behind the metal and draw or doodle on it using chalk pastels, oil pastels, sharpies, or colored pencils.

Create an artwork that has: Collage (using magazine clippings, newspapers, photos, etc.) to glue down at least 10 -15 pieces of collaged paper. Mixed Media: you will need to use two other mediums in your project. Surrealism. Collage must use elements of Surrealism that we discussed such as dream-like, strange, humorous, scale, fantasy, etc. (Art I: 1 element, Art II: 2 elements, Art III: 3 elements.)

Create a food package collage in the style of artist Michael Albert. Requirements: Display a message, poem, song lyric, etc.; Create a new image from the pieces; OR Be an abstracted version of the original package. No gaps between pieces bigger than a quarter. Pieces must be smaller than a dollar bill. Words/letters must be separated (cut apart.) Attach pieces to a piece of cardboard. Prep cardboard with gesso, then paint. Choose a color that pairs well with your pieces.

Design and create an altered book cover with four of the seven elements of art.

Create a tiny painting that incorporates a found object.

Students will create a still life and turn it into a watercolor painting.

Create a watercolor portrait with the following requirements: Can be Traditional or Self Portrait Can be Representational or Abstract Must include eyes, nose, mouth, and one other feature/item. (Ex: eyebrows, hair, hat, ears, earrings, etc.) Must use at least 3 colors (1 must be created by mixing at least 2 colors from the palette) Painting must use at least 4 of the techniques we learned. (Dry brush, salt texture, sharpie, wet on wet, graded wash, etc.
