Student provides for privacy by closing doors and pulling screening curtian. Places bath blanket over the patient, removes the bedspread, positions the legs/bent at the knees and spread apart, places moisture barrier under the buttocks and tub of water on the bedside table, drape the blanket between legs

Rinse in the same way and pat dry. fold the blanket back, lower the legs and turn to the side away from you. apply soap to mitt wash cloth, clean the rectal area from top to bottom using the same technique as before, rinse and pat dry.

Remove any soiled linens or moisture barrier products and dispose of properly, position patient for comfort, perform safety check of the room, remove gloves and wash hands. make sure call light and personal objects are within reach. thank the patient.
