Quantity Is figurative language present in the poem.	Very Good Student's poem contains at least three or more examples of either a metaphor simile.	Good Student's poem contains at least two examples of either a metaphor or simile.	Developing Student's poem contains only one or no example of a metaphor or simile.
Content Figurative language is used clearly connects to one of assigned emotions (happy, mad, or sad)	Very Good Student has shown understanding clearly by connecting multiple metaphors or similes with the assigned emotion.	Good Student has clearly connected a metaphor or simile with the assigned emotion.	Developing Student has shown connection between figurative language and emotion, but has not used one of the assigned emotions: happy, sad, or mad.
Creativity Student's poem uses unique and interesting phrases of figurative language.	Very Good Student shows clear understanding of their creativity by: multiple uses of original phrases, including either a metaphor or simile throughout the poem.	Good Student has clearly shows creativity by their use of at least two phrases including either a metaphor or simile .	Developing Student is just about close to showing creativity by using at least one relevant phrases that includes a metaphor or simile.
