Paragraph Structure	Advanced Topic sentence hooks the reader and provides an introduction to the purpose of the writing. 4 or more detail sentences address the topic. Closing ties writing back to topic.	Proficient Topic sentence is present but doesn't neccesarily hook the reader. 2-3 detail sentences are present. Closing is a simple restatement of topic sentence.	Basic Progress Topic sentence is present but little details are provided. May be missing the closing sentence.	Below Basic Progress Missing much of the structure of the paragraph. Writing structure doesn't lend itself to understanding the purpose of the writer.
Capitalization/Punct/Spelling	Advanced 0 errors	Proficient 2-4 errors	Basic Progress 5-7 errors	Below Basic Progress 8 or more errors
Ideas	Advanced Writing expresses creative/imaginative details. Writer puts together elements and parts to form a whole.	Proficient Writing is to the purpose but may lack inventive or creative details. Writer identifies parts/pattern but doesn't tie them together effectively throughout the passage.	Basic Progress Writing is a simple list of examples or ideas which have been observed without attempt to link them together.	Below Basic Progress Writer only briefly identifies a minimal amount of support for the purpose of the writing.
Technology	Advanced Writer was able to effectively save the writing in a Word file, choose an appropriate font size and style, respond to editing instructions and print the final document containing identifying information.	Proficient Writer was able to demonstrate some knowledge of Word, editing and printing.	Basic Progress Writer demonstrates the beginning understandings of how to use technology, repond to editing and produce a final, typed coy.	Below Basic Progress Writer was unable to effectively utilize the technology without maximum support.
