Introduction

Not Enough Information

Focuses largely on aspects that should be included in other sections of report. Some information is not accurate or worded correctly, rough transitions between paragraphs.
Not enough information to assess
Approaching Standard

Understanding of ecology needs to be further developed. Ideas are not related to ecocolumn project and vague. Only some parts of ecocolumn are discussed. Needs to make real-world application of the model.
Meeting Standard

Introduction is clear and concise. Shows clear understanding of ecology concepts and makes connections to ecocolumn project. Gives brief introduction to what the ecocolumn project entails and its real-world applications
Exceeding Standard

Masters understanding of concepts and ideas and makes strong connections between ecological studies and ecocolumn project. Demonstrates understanding of model ecosystems and their value in ecology
Materials/Methods

Not Enough Information

List is limited and not complete, missing essential components to the project. Methods are not sequentially organized. Not enough information to assess
Approaching Standard

Assumptions are made as to what methods were used; needs clarification. Some/few methods are not in sequential order according to procedure. Materials are described in section not listed in raw data form.
Meeting Standard

Methods are clear and in sequential order, easily explained and understood. All key aspects of procedure are covered accounted for. Materials are accounted for in methods description.
Exceeding Standard

Methods are accurate and names/brands are used when describing materials. All methods follow sequential order and specific.
Discussion

Not Enough Information

Concepts are vague and not specific. Little to no use of ecological terms, rarely makes real world connections and does not fully describe ecocolumn project. Not enough information to assess.
Approaching Standard

Fails to identify several key aspects in ecocolumn (predators, prey, nutrient cycles, abiotic/biotic factors, etc..). Some concepts need further development to show understanding of concepts.
Meeting Standard

Makes connections between ecological terms and ecocolumn project. Demonstrates understanding of ecological terms and relates them to project. All sections of ecosystem are discussed and described accurately.
Exceeding Standard

Meaningful connections to real-world scenarios are made, accurately describes each section of ecocolumn, uses scientific name when describing organisms within ecocolumn. Strong use of ecological terms, and addresses most key elements in ecology to ecocolumn (predators, prey, nutrient cycles, abiotic/biotic factors, etc..)
Environmental Effect

Not Enough Information

No environmental effect was chosen or made clear within discussion. Not enough information to assess.
Approaching Standard

Effect needs further explanation, it is not clear how it affects all parts of ecosystem. Not enough information is given to illustrate the cause of the effect to the ecosystem.
Meeting Standard

Effect is clear and appropriate for ecocolumn. Before and after effects are discussed and origin of effect is clear. Ties are made to individual organisms in ecocolumn.
Exceeding Standard

Multiple outcomes are discussed and effects on every organism are given. Before and after effects are described in full detail demonstrating mastery of ecology.
Conclusion

Not Enough Information

Conclusion is not complete and not enough information to assess.
Approaching Standard

Conclusion is vague, no personal thoughts are expressed. Lacking connection to at least one real-world application of ecocolumn.
Meeting Standard

Personal thoughts towards study are expressed. Human errors are addressed and future suggestions are discussed.
Exceeding Standard

Demonstrates strong knowledge and understanding of real world applications, makes strong correlations between human error and what was observed.
