SMART Goal Setting
	Meets Expectations 3 pts	Developing 2 pts	Needs Improvement 1 pts
S-SPECIFIC	Meets Expectations The goal is clearly stated and fully describes the goal to the reader.	Developing The goal is stated, but has very little descriptive language to inform the reader of what is going to be practiced.	Needs Improvement The goal is either not stated clearly or is too general. The goal does not include descriptive language.
M-MEASURABLE	Meets Expectations The goal can be easily assessed and evaluated by the student. Progress and achievement can be measured and described by the student.	Developing The goal can be assessed and evaluated by the student, but not easily. The student has difficulty measuring progress or achievement of the goal because it is too general.	Needs Improvement The goal lacks structure for assessment and evaluation. Progress or achievement of this goal cannot be measured readily by the student or teacher.
A-ACTIONS	Meets Expectations The student has two or more appropriate objectives in place for attainment of the goal.	Developing The student has one or somewhat appropriate objective in place for attainment of the goal.	Needs Improvement The student has no appropriate objectives in place for attainment of the goal.
R-REALISTIC	Meets Expectations The goal is realistic, and very possible.	Developing The goal is somewhat realistic; with major challenges to completion beyond the student's control.	Needs Improvement The goal is not realistic or impossible.
T-TIME- BOUND	Meets Expectations The goal submitted has a clear and specific deadline for completion.	Developing The goal submitted has a general and/or unclear deadline for completion	Needs Improvement The goal submitted has no deadline for completion
