Chapter Book Project 
This rubric will assist in assessing a project and presentation on the Independent chapter book given by Ms. Wyche. The students will read the selected book and are then to complete a final presentation which will include a project of the student's choice about the book. In addition, they will be presenting this presentation orally.

The student wrote a paragraph with detail and summarized the story in clear form. The student wrote in complete sentences with detail.

The student wrote a paragraph with little summarization details. Wrote response sentences to the questions but needed more detail.

The student included a written piece, but with little detail and summarized the story in an unclear form.
Poor

Student included a written piece but it contained inaccurate or incomplete information.
Mechanics

This grade focuses on spelling, grammar and punctuation of written work.

Superior

Student worked independently in the computer lab to compose all the word processing sentences. Composed sentences with capitalization and punctuation.
Excellent

Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are near perfect, but a few mistakes are present.
Good

Several mistakes in spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation.
Poor

Chronic mistakes in spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation.
Oral Presentation
25 pts

Eye contact, voice projection, and conduct during presentation.

Superior

Student showed understanding of the book, and was a dynamic presenter, making eye-contact to his/her classmates.
Excellent

Student demonstrated understanding of the reading, and presented to the class in an effective manner.
Good

Student did not demonstrate their understanding in an effective manner, and had trouble presenting to the class.
Poor

Demonstrated some understanding of the reading, but had some trouble displaying their knowledge to the class.
