Mock Trial Rubric 
All students, regardless of their role in the trial, will be evaluated using the following rubric. Both pre-trial preparation and in-trial performance will be considered in determining the final grade.

Excellent

Student was constantly engaged in the trial. Student did not need reminders to stay on task.
Above Average

Student was often engaged in the trial. Student could participate more, but was on task most of the time.

Student was sometimes engaged in the trial. Student needed occasional reminders to get back on task.
Below Average

Student was not involved with the trial. Student needed constant reminders to get back on task and/or was distracting to the class.

Student completed all of their pre-trial assignments on time and to the best of their ability.

Student completed most of their pre-trial assignments on time and to the best of their ability.

Student completed some of their pre-trial assignments on time and to the best of their ability.

Student completed few of their pre-trial assignments on time and to the best of their ability.

Excellent

Student performed their role during the trial in character and went above and beyond at doing their job in the courtroom.

Student performed their role during the trial in character most of the time and met the requirements of their job in the courtroom.

Student performed their role in character inconsistently and sometimes did not meet the requirements of their job.
Below Average

Student was never in character did not really do their job at all during the trial.

Excellent

Student met the ROAR expectations in everything they did and showed leadership/set an example for their classmates.
Above Average

Student followed the ROAR expectations a majority of the time and never had a negative attitude.
Average

Student was hit or miss on the ROAR expectations and their attitude was neutral.
Below Average

Student did not meet ROAR expectations in most cases and had a negative attitude.

The result of the student's work was outstanding and exceptional.

The result of the student's work was good.

The result of the student's work could have been better and worse.
