Persuasive Writing

Write a persuasive piece of writing on a topic of your choice that convinces a reader why they should agree with you. You should incorporate persuasive strategies and convincing persuasive language to help strengthen your argument. Your writing must planned and carefully edited, paying attention to your spelling and punctuation.

Structure and Organisation	Excellent - The introduction is engaging and clearly states the opinion of the writer's argument. - The conclusion strongly states a personal opinion ties in discussed arguments throughout and may present a clever ending. - Writing is clear and coherent and ideas are well organised throughout. - Four or more quality paragraphs with good transitions between each one.	Good - The introduction includes an opinion and an attempt at persuading the reader. The conclusion states a personal opinion and summarises persuasive reasons stated throughout. - Information is presented in a logical order but does not always maintain the interest of the reader.	Fair - The introduction is very brief or missing. - ideas and argument are disjointed and not clear. - The conclusion is weak and simply restates a reason already stated initially.	Needs Improvement The introduction is not present.
Persuasive Techniques and Reasons	Excellent - Three or more excellent reasons are stated with good support. All reasons are explained and have a good argument.	Good - Two to three reasons are stated but the arguments are weak or lacking explanation in some places.	Fair Two or less reasons are stated and the arguments or explanations are weak or missing.	Needs Improvement The writing only has one reason that is presented and not supported.
Grammar and Punctuation	Excellent - Persuasive writing has accurate spelling, grammar and punctuation. Very few mistakes exist.	Good - Persuasive writing has good spelling, grammar and punctuation throughout. Several grammatical errors exist which does interfere with the flow of the writing at times. - Vocabulary somewhat limited.	Fair - Persuasive writing has many spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. The writing is very disjointed and is not easy to understand.	Needs Improvement Persuasive writing is hard to read as the grammar and punctuation errors make the writing difficult to understand.
Vocabulary	Excellent - Vocabulary and choice of words is creative and enhances the argument. Strong, persuasive words and devices are included to support and explain each argument.	Good - Vocabulary and word choices have been carefully chosen to persuade and enhance writing. Persuasive words assist in delivering strong argument.	Fair - Vocabulary and word choice is limited. - The same words are repeated throughout and very few words are persuasive.	Needs Improvement -A lot of words and phrases are repeated, and the wording is redundant that takes away from the message of the writing.
Clear Thesis Statement	Excellent Your opinion on your topic is clearly stated and supported.	Good Your opinion on your chosen topic is not clearly stated in the first paragraph or it is not supported.	Fair Your thesis is hard to find, or is not clear.	Needs Improvement You did not clearly state your thesis.
