Create a Poem 
Students will choose a specific topic to write a poem about. The students will go through the writing process (prewriting, drafting, editing, revising and publishing) to create a poem that contains a minimum of 3 stanzas with 4 lines in each stanza Or 2 well written Stanzas with 6 lines. The student will type or write on non lined paper.

The poem contains 3 or more stanzas with 4 or more lines and demonstrates thoughtfulness in stanza creation.

There are no literary devices.
Satisfactory

There is a minimum of one literary device.
Good

There are a minimum of 3 examples of literary devices from two different techniques.
Excellent

There is a clear evidence student used several literary devices to aid in the fluidity of the poem.
Connection to text

There is one or less references made to the text.
Satisfactory

Some evidence of the text is present. A minimum of three references from the text is present.
Good

Student met requirements and demonstrates sufficient evidence of the text. There are two references from two different vignettes.

Students incorporated all requirements and went beyond required elements to create deeper meanings in their poem. There are three references from both vignettes.
