Questioning and flow

Poor

Student does not ask appropriate questions or questioning seems to be chaotic. Intern does not begin with open ended questions and end with closed ended questioning.

Student asks appropriate open to closed ended questions, but failed to pick up on one or two points where they could have gone deeper. Questioning was somewhat ordered but not polished.
Good

Student questioning is logical and ordered Student asks appropriate open to closed ended questions and picks up on minor details. Questioning and flow seem polished and fluid.
Elicits Complaint or Concern

Should be able to elicit a chief complaint if present.

Poor

Student is unable to elicit a CC.
Fair

Student elicits a chief complaint, but fails ask the patient if there is anything else they would like to add.
Good

Student effectively elicits a CC and ensure that all complaints are addressed by asking if the patient is they would like to add anything else.
Summarizes

Poor

Student fails to summarize interview, or does so in such a manner that the summary is full of errors and seems pointless.
Fair

Student summarizes interview, but needs improvement, fails to mention something the patient told them that may be of consequence; or fails to ask patient if there is anything else they forgot to mention, or would like to add.
Good

Student executes a near perfect summary of the interview, effectively covers all points mentioned by the patient. Asks patient if they have anything else that they would like to mention or add.
