Meaning and Originality	Level One Poem appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive and ideas are impersonal or unoriginal.	Level Two The poem is creative, but appears to be rushed. Ideas are simple and not explained in much detail.	Level Three Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas may be revisited, but the overall product is carefully written.	Level Four Poems is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions.
Form	Level One Poem is not written in the proper form. Does not include a rhyme or a poetic convention.	Level Two Poem is somewhat written in the proper form. Includes one of either a rhyme or a poetic convention.	Level Three Poem is mostly written in the proper form. Includes a rhyme and a poetic convention.	Level Four Poem is complete and follows its intended form. Includes sevral rhymes as well as several poetic conventions.
Grammar	Level One There are numerous spelling or grammar errors, making the poem difficult to understand.	Level Two The poet's intended meaning is difficult to understand due to several spelling or grammar errors.	Level Three A couple of spelling or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning of the poem.	Level Four Proper use of English language spelling and grammar is employed consistently throughout the poem.
Attractiveness	Level One The poem is distractingly messy. The illustration is not appropriate for the poem.	Level Two The poem is acceptably attractive though it may be a bit messy. The illustration is appropriate but without much detail.	Level Three The poem is attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness. The illustration and detail is appropriate for the poem.	Level Four The poem is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness. The illustration is appropriate and adds interest to the poem.
