Meaning and Originality	Level Four Poem is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put great thought into her word choices.	Level Three Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas may be revisited, but the overall product is carefully written.	Level Two The poem is creative, but could be better by including better word choices and ideas.	Level One Poem appears to be rushed. Work is very repetitive, and ideas are impersonal or unoriginal.
Use of Compound Words	Level Four Poem has 5 or more thematic compound words.	Level Three Poem has 4 thematic compound words.	Level Two Poem has 3 thematic compound words.	Level One Poem has less than 3 thematic compound words.
Grammar and Spelling	Level Four Proper use of spelling and grammar is employed consistently throughout the poem. Punctuation is utilized when necessary.
