Level Four

Poems is creative and original. It is evident that the poet put thought into their words and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions.

Poem is thoughtful and creative. A couple of phrases or ideas may be revisited, but the overall product is carefully written.

The poem is creative, but appears to be rushed. This is evident in the poet's redundancy or use of cliches.
Level One

Poem appears to be thoughtless or rushed. Work is very repetitive, and ideas are impersonal or unoriginal.
Form

Level Four

Poem is complete and follows its intended form.
Level Three

Poem is mostly written in the proper forms.
Level Two

Poem is somewhat written in the proper forms, while others stray significantly or are written as prose.
Level One

Poem is not written in the proper forms, ultimately diminishing the poetic value of the writer's collection.
Grammar

Level Four

Proper use of modern English spelling and grammar is employed consistently throughout the poem. Punctuation is utilized when necessary.

A couple of spelling or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning of the poem. Punctuation is utilized when necessary.

There are numerous spelling or grammar errors, making the poem difficult to understand. Puncutation is used incorrectly.

Level Four

The poem is exceptionally attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness.
Level Three

The poem is attractive in terms of design, layout and neatness.
Level Two

The poem is acceptably attractive though it may be a bit messy
Level One

The poem is distractingly messy or very poorly designed.
