Fantasy Book Report-6th grade 
This rubric will assist in assessing a non fiction report on a fantasy story. The students will choose and read a selected book on a fantasy. They are then to complete a final presentation which will include a shoe box book report and written work about the book. In addition, they will be presenting this presentation orally.

The student wrote a paragraph with detail and summarized the fantasy in clear form. The student wrote in complete sentences with detail. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are near perfect.

The student wrote a paragraph with little summarization details. Wrote response sentences to the questions but needed more detail. Spelling, grammar, and punctuation are near perfect.
Good

The student wrote incomplete sentences and the editing features were not observed. Follow directions?
Poor

Inaccurate information and incomplete sentences were provided with no editing.
Computer Integration
25 %

This grade focuses on the computer skills taught more than on the ability for the child to write sentences.

Superior

Student worked independently in the computer lab to compose all the word processing sentences. Composed sentences with capitalization and punctuation.
Excellent

Student worked somewhat independently in the computer lab to compose the sentences. He/she learned how to effectively bullet facts, change font/size of lettering and insert pictures into word processing.
Good

Student needed some assistance in working independently in the computer lab to compose the sentences. He/she was inconsistent in applying bullet facts, changing font/size of lettering and inserting pictures into word processing.
Poor

Student had great difficulty in following directions and learning the skills needed in computer lab to apply bullet facts, change font and size as well as insert pictures into word processing.
Oral Presentation
15 %

Eye contact, voice projection, and conduct during presentation.

Superior

Student showed understanding of the book, and was a dynamic presenter, making eye-contact to his/her classmates.
Excellent

Student demonstrated understanding of the reading, and presented to the class in an effective manner.
Good

Student did not demonstrate their understanding in an effective manner, and had trouble presenting to the class.
Poor

Demonstrated some understanding of the reading, but had some trouble displaying their knowledge to the class.
