	Outstanding 4 pts	Proficient 3 pts	Basic 2 pts	Beginning 1 pts
Content	Outstanding There is 90-100% balance of facts about topic. Presenter is Well-prepared.	Proficient There is 70-80% balance of facts about topic. Presenter is prepared.	Basic There is 50-60% balance of facts about topic. Presenter has not given enough forethought to the presentation and may lack some content.	Beginning There is less than 50% of facts about topic. Presenter has not given forethought to what he/she was going to say. Lacks content.
Word Choice/Persuasion	Outstanding Exciting, getting to suspense, but not spoiling the book. Convinces you to read the book. You explain why you enjoyed the book. If you know something about the author, you include that to add interest.	Proficient Interesting, tells why you enjoyed the book, connects to the audience, tells just enough.	Basic Hardly convincing, spoils some of the book, loses the audience, tells why you like the book but does not connect to the audience.	Beginning Unconvincing, spoils the book, does not tell why or why not you enjoy the book, uninteresting.
Feeling	Outstanding Emphasis on certain words builds emotion.	Proficient Puts feeling into what you're saying.	Basic Not a lot of feeling behind the words.	Beginning Monotone, no feeling, mood does not match what is being said.
Gestures	Outstanding Body gestures enhance the presentation.	Proficient Body gestures match the mood.	Basic Don't use a lot of body gestures.	Beginning Body gestures are distracting to audience (for example, you're slouching, your hand is covering your mouth, you're looking down).
Volume	Outstanding Clearly heard, loudness matches mood, the dynamics match the text, agrees with the written text.	Proficient Audible, clear, has some dynamics, volume is acceptable.	Basic Audible but not clear, has little dynamics.	Beginning Inaudible.
Fluency	Outstanding Can understand every word, sounds like they are speaking in a conversation, does not stumble, may be memorized.	Proficient Clear, has practiced, annunciation, may stumble but doesn't detract.	Basic Can't understand some key words, needs practice.	Beginning Mumbling, lots of stumbling, no practice.
Recommendation	Outstanding Reader's opinion of the book is expressed. All statements are supported with details from the text. Description is vivid.	Proficient Reader's opinion of the book is expressed clearly. Most statements are supported with textual evidence.	Basic Reader's opinion of the book is mentioned but hardly supported.	Beginning No support is provided for reader's opinion of the book.
NOTES	Outstanding Extremely detailed.	Proficient On target with details and description.	Basic Getting there! Not in depth.	Beginning Needs work. Missing information. Very simple.
