Book Report and Presentation Rubric

Students will act out 2 scenes from their stories or present oral character summaries from their stories.

Criteria A Thinking and Analyzing (Content of Presentation) 10	Above Standard The presentation covers all of the necessary content in detail.	Standard The presentation covers most of the necessary content in detail: (at least 4 of the required parts).	Below Standard The presentation does not cover all of the necessary material.(Only 3 of the requires parts.)	Unsatisfactory The presentation does not cover any of the necessary material.
Criteria B Language (Dialogue and Narration) 10	Above Standard Students speak clearly and are very easy to understand the entire time. The dialogue is very expressive and actively engaging.	Standard Students speak clearly and are easy to understand the majority of the time. The dialouge is expressive and enganging most oof the time.	Below Standard Students speak cleary and are easy to understand some of the time. The dialouge is not very expressive or engaging.	Unsatisfactory Students speak unclearly and are difficult to understand. The dialouge is monotone and boring.
Criteria C Props, make up, background, etc. 5	Above Standard Students went above and beyond to get everyone in character (using cotumes, wigs, makeup, etc.) and had interesting backdrops. May have included music or other sound effects.	Standard Students were adequately in character (using cosumes, wigs, makeup, etc.) and had interseting backdrops.	Below Standard Students were in character (using costumes, wigs, makeup,etc.), but did not have a backdrop, or vice versa.	Unsatisfactory Students were not in character (did not use any costumes, wigs, makeup, etc.) and had no backdrop.
Criteria D Time and Equal Involvement 5	Above Standard Students presented within 7-10 minutes and all students demonstrated relatively equal involvement.	Standard Students presented 30 seconds under or over time and/OR one student was noticibly less actively involved than the others.	Below Standard Students presented under time (between 1.5-2 minutes) or over time (between 1.5-3 minutes). And/OR two students were noticably less involved than the others.	Unsatisfactory Students presented under time by 2 or more minutes or overtime by 3 or more minutes. And/OR one or more student was not actively involved during the presentation.
