Descriptive Writing Descriptive Writing Students will complete a descriptive writing promt using their five senses to create a descriptive essay. Writing will be graded on capitalization, punctuation, use of main idea and supporting details, spelling of high frequency words, plural and possessive noun use, subject/verb tense and agreement, and voicethread creation. Main Idea & Details	Excellent Each paragraph contains a main idea and three related details.	Good Some paragraphs contain a main idea and 1-2 realted details or 3 unrelated details.	Needs Improvement The paragraphs do not contain a clear main idea or related details.
Adjectives	Excellent The essay contains more than 5 descriptive adjectives.	Good The essay contains 3-5 descriptive adjectives.	Needs Improvement The essay contains less than 3 descriptive adjectives.
Topic	Excellent The paragraph stays on topic throughout and does not deviate.	Good N/A	Needs Improvement The paragraph deviates from the topic consistently throughout.
