Unit Outline	Excellent The unit outline does include: a unit name, subject, grade level, content area, a suggested duration, and a rationale for the unit.	Good The unit oultine includes only some of the structural elements or all elements, but not sufficiently detailed.	Poor The unit outline does not include any structural elements.
Unit Structure	Excellent The unit includes: the essential questions for the unit, lesson objectives, state standards, materials list, assessments, and process. Other sections are also included.	Good The unit includes: the essential questions for the unit,lesson objectives, state standards, materials list, assessments, and process.	Poor The unit does not include all of the following: the essential questions for the unit, lesson objectives, state standards, materials list, assessments, and process. Sections are missing.
Standards	Excellent Standards for the unit content area are appropriate.	Good Standards for the unit content area are included, but include one or two too many or too few.	Poor No standards in the unit plan.
Curriculum/Activities	Excellent Curriculum and activities are consistent with objectives/standards. The information in the curriculum is accurate and age appropriate. The activities/experiments engage the students in a variety of processing skills to promote critical thinking.	Good The curriculum and activities are weakly linked with objectives/standards. The information in the curriculum is accurate and age appropriate. The activities/experiments do not engage the students in a variety of processing skills. Only 3 or less skills are used repeatedly. Differentiation	Excellent Teaching/learning strategies and materials are varied. Consideration of students varied needs (challenged, gifted, cultural) is explicit. Curriculm and activities reflect a strong focus on higher level thinking.	Good Little attention is given to differentiating instruction.
