Hypothesis is vague and not well developed. It is not written in a complete sentence or is not a guess to the problem. Does not use the needed science vocabulary
Level 3

Hypothesis is understandable but not well developed. It is written as a guess to the problem. Some science vocabulary used.
Level 4

Hypothesis is clear and well developed. It is written as a guess or explanation to the answer of the problem and in a complete sentence. Science vocabulary is used to the extent needed.
Procedure/Material

the procedure is a step-by step explanation of how to perform the experiment and the materials needed.
the procedure must include all of the following:
a. Procedure steps must be numbered
b. Procedure steps must be in the correct order
c. Procedure steps must include instructions on what to measure and where to record
the data.
d. Procedure steps must be written in complete sentences.

the data is not organized in a table or paragraph with complete
sentences and no trial was performed
Level 2

the data/ observation is not organized in a table or paragraph with complete

Level 3

the data/observation is organized in a data table or paragraph written in complete
sentences. Only includes one trial or numbers are not labeled
Level 4

the data/observation is organized in a table or paragraph written in complete
sentences. Also, includes more than one trial
Conclusion and Explanation (#4)

the conclusion is the part of the experiment where you answer the problem.
Your answer should also respond to your hypothesis stating whether you were correct or
incorrect

Level 1

Conclusions not stated and there is no evidence of gained science knowledge in the explanation
Level 2

Conclusions are stated but they do not address the hypothesis. There is little evidence of scientific knowledge in the explanation
Level 3

Conclusions are stated and they somewhat address the hypothesis having some scientific knowledge in the explanation
Level 4

Conclusions are stated and they address the hypothesis correctly. There is evidence of gained science knowledge in the explanation.
Neatness & Organization

your report must be written on a clean and unwrinkled
paper. Your handwriting should be clear and easy to read
