Alphabet Book Project Ancient Civilization/Culture Project (Alphabet Book) Students will create an alphabet book. Each letter will be represented with a description & picture of something that starts with the corresponding letter. Project content	Fair The project is missing 3 or more letters, or more than 2 letters have descriptions, words & images that do not correspond to that letter. Included explanations are very brief, or inaccurate.	Good Project includes clear explanations that demonstrate a good understanding of the topic & concept for most of the letters.	Excellent Project includes thoughtful and insightful explanations that demonstrate a strong understanding of the topic & concept for each letter.
Research	Fair The project includes a very limited view of the topic, either 1 sided or missing important details about the topic. The student was only able to use one or two research strategies & it shows in the data found.	Good The project includes a diverse view of the topic, but is missing important details. The student was able to use 3 or more research strategies & it shows in the data found, & descriptions in the book.	Excellent The project includes a list of resources at the end; the resources come from a variety of sources (print, web, and multimedia). The topics include a plethora of information about the topic from multiple perspectives. All descriptions include enough information to full understand that piece of data.
Text Features Picture, description both start with corresponding letter.	Fair The project is missing more than one of the necessary text features. It does not have a consistent layout. Pictures are mostly printed, written in pencil or illegible ink.	Good The project includes a cover, table of contents, titles and subtitles where necessary and is neatly & consistently laid out. Majority of pictures are hand-drawn, written in legible ink or typed.	Excellent The project includes a cover, table of contents, titles and subtitles on each entry (ie. page or alphabet letter), has a citation page and is thoughtfully and neatly laid out in a consistent way. All pictures are hand-drawn & colored, and all text is typed.
