Character Acrostic Response

Students select a character and write an acrostic of the character's personality. They select three of the adjectives they've used and find an appropriate quote in the text to support their choice of descriptor.

Character Selection Character should be one about whom there is adequate information to complete the assignment satisfactorily.	Poor Student does not select a character from the assigned text.	Fair Student selects a minor character from the assigned text and not much information can be found.	Good Student selects an appropriate character about whom there is enough information given.
Adjective Selections Adjectives should be relevant to the character selected and should be spelled correctly.	Poor Student's adjectives are not accurate and many are misspelled.	Fair Student's adjectives are mostly accurate and are not misspelled.	Good Student's adjectives are accurate and are not misspelled.
Quote Selections Must use direct quotes, implement quotation marks, and reference page numbers. Quote must show a tie or connection to the corresponding adjective.	Poor Student does not give direct quotes, does not incorporate quotation marks, does not include page number. The information given does not relate to the character.	Fair The student uses direct quotes, quotation marks, and page numbers. Some quotes do not show a connection between the character and the adjective given. or Student does not use direct quotes but the information given is relevant to the adjectives selected.	Good The student uses direct quotes, quotation marks, and page numbers. The quotes are relevant and connect well with the adjectives selected.
