Visuals

Exemplary

Great use of visuals on poster. Visuals are creative and colorful and reflect the seriousness of the project. Visuals clearly reflect the topic. Title and other writing is clear and easy to read.
Proficient

Poster reflects seriousness of the subject. Has some color and is creative. Title and wrting may be difficult to read, but can be deciphered.
Developing

Poster reflects little effort or seriousness. Very little color and and only one or no visuals. Wrting is small and difficult to read. More effort could have been put into the visual part of the poster.
Needs Improvement

No effort was put into the poster. No or little color is used. Visuals are sloppy and do not clearly relate to the topic. Writing is difficult to read.
Organization & Content

Exemplary

Poster has a clear, readable message, with true/factual information. Organization of poster makes it easy to read the content.
Proficient

Poster has a message. Somewhat organized, but format is somewhat distracting from the content. Could have put more effort into the organization part of the project. Has most of the factual data required.
Developing

Poster's message is vague. Poster reflects little time or effort in organization. Did not include much factual data. Most of the poster is opinion.
Needs Improvement

Poster's message is difficult to decipher. No factual data is included - all information is opinion-based. Information is scattered around the poster with no clear organization.
Overall criteria for project

Exemplary

Proficient

Followed most directions. Visually appealing. Eventually able to figure out what message is being conveyed. Good effort put into the project that is proficient for 8th grade. Demonstrates some reflection of the topic.
Developing

Followed some directions. Bland/boring visually. Eventually able to figure out what message is being conveyed. Very little effort put into the project. Demonstrates little knowledge of the topic.
Needs Improvement

Did not follow directions. Not visually appealing. Unclear message. Turned in something to get a grade, and is relying heavily on other activities and/or assessments to earn a good grade.
Relevant Facts

Exemplary

Has 3 or more relevant terms about the topic. The viewer knows exactly what message you are trying to tell them in the piece of work. Excellent job.
Proficient

Poster has 3 terms that are relevant to the topic, but there are other facts that are more important to the message than all the facts chosen.
Developing

Has few relevant terms in the poster. Viewer has little clue about the topic and what they are supposed to learn.
Needs Improvement
