An unexcused absence. The student is in school but chooses not to come to rehearsal/sectional. No communication is given prior to the rehearsal about their absence.
Poor

Student comes to band without all the appropriate materials including: own music, pencil, instrument/sticks and equipment. Student is often found disengaged during rehearsal, missing the band director's instructions. When engaged, they put in little effort and both their own performance/progress as well as that of the band suffers as a result.
Fair

The student comes to band with all the appropriate materials including: own music, pencil, instrument/sticks and equipment. Student is sometimes inattentive, missing the band director's cues and instructions. When playing, they put in a decent effort.
Good

The student is on time to rehearsal and is seated with all the appropriate materials including: own music, pencil, instrument/sticks and equipment. The student is usually attentive and participates during the rehearsal. The student usually gives their best effort and strives to improve their own performance and that of the ensemble.
Outstanding

The student is on time to rehearsal and is seated with all the appropriate materials including: own music, pencil, instrument/sticks and equipment. The student is always attentive and participates during the rehearsal. The student gives their best effort and strives to improve their own performance and that of the ensemble.
