Business Article Summary Rubric Journal Article Summary Rubric After reading six short business articles regarding soft skills in the workplace, choose at least four of them to synthesize into a summary. Be sure to cite the sources within the text using a variety of citation strategies. Give the paper a title. Summary	Good The articles are clearly but succinctly summarized - only the key points of the articles are touched upon. The article summary takes up no more than one third of the total assignment.	Fair The articles are clearly summarized, but some sub points are addressed along with main points. The summary is not succinct, is too long and cumbersome	Poor The article summary is unclear or overly detailed, so long as to appear more like a short, unclear article than a summary.
Article Synthesis	Good Four Articles selected are current (<5 years), topic is specific to task. Information appropriately synthesized and quoted.	Fair Four articles selected are current. Information is mostly synthesized.	Poor Fewer than four articles are incorporated in summary. Information is not synthesized.
Organization	Good Summary is well organized, and clearly stated. The points of the article are clear from the very beginning and the name and author of the article is made clear early in the paper.	Fair Paper is organized, has an intro, body and conclusion. The purpose of the paper becomes clear within the paper and the name and author of the article is mentioned within the paper.	Poor Paper is not well organized, has an unclear or non-existent intro, body and conclusion. The purpose of the paper is unclear and the name and author of the article is not stated or stated late.
Mechanics Requirements	Good Appropriate in-text citations included. All requirements are met and there are no grammatical errors or typos.	Fair Most in-text citations are included. All requirements are met and there are 1-4 grammatical errors or typos.	Poor Summary missing citations. All requirements are not met. There are 5+ grammatical errors or typos.
Introduction/Conclusion	Good Introduction focuses on key points that will be shared. Creative and original.
