Content Knowledge	Excellent The writer clearly states very detailed answer. The writer uses specific/detailed examples and reasoning.	Good The writer states an answer The writer uses some specific examples and reasoning.	Fair The writer partially states an appropriate, proper answer. The writer attempts to use examples and reasoning and/or examples/details are general and vague.	Insufficient The writer does not state a proper, clear answer. The writer does not provide examples and reasoning and/or examples/details are too general, lacking specific detail from text.
Elaboration of Ideas	Excellent There are specific/detailed sentences that further explain the details chosen from the text to respond to the question.	Good There are one or two sentences that further explain the details chosen from the text to respond to the question.	Fair There is a sentence that somewhat explains the details from the text and how it somewhat connects to the response.	Insufficient Sentences not written or sentences written do not adequately further explain the details from the text and how it connects to the response.
Word Choice/Vocabulary	Excellent Uses specific and detailed word choice/vocabulary. Excellent - above and beyond	Good Uses some specific vocabulary Word Choice is good	Fair Uses basic vocabulary.
