	Excellent 20 pts	Fair 15 pts	Good 10 pts	Poor 3 pts
Pronunciation	Excellent All words are clearly pronounced and the presentation is easily understood	Fair Some words are understandable	Good The majority of words are understandable	Poor Words are not understandable
Preparedness	Excellent Students are well prepared and it is clear that much practice and planning occurred	Fair Students have practiced, but the performance is not smooth	Good Students have practiced and most details are planned	Poor Students have not practiced or planned the presentation carefully
Emotion	Excellent The poet has articulate emotion in their voice, reflecting the poem well. The poet projects loudly. The poet uses their voice to help convey the message of the poem.	Fair The poet has some emotion in their voice, or reflects the poem oddly sometimes. The poet does not project very well.	Good The poet has little to emotion in their voice. The poet does not project loudly enough at all.	Poor The poet has no emotion in their voice. The poet speaks too low.
Fluency	Excellent The poet performs their poem with little/no stammers. The poet's voice is articulate and easy to understand.	Fair The poet stammers more than a few times. The poet's voice is unsteady at times and may be unclear at some points.	Good The poet stammers profusely. The poet's voice is undecipherable at many points.	Poor The poet's stammers through the entire presentation. It is difficult for the audience to understand.
Physical Posture	Excellent Student employs proper posture and gestures, is relaxed and confident, and maintains appropriate audience contact.	Fair Student employs proper posture and gestures, is relaxed and confident, and maintains appropriate audience contact most of the time or is lacking in one of these elements.	Good Presentation is lacking in two or more of the criteria.	Poor The student slouches, looks uncomfortable and makes no effective contact with the audience at all. Tension and nervousness is obvious.
