Simple rubric to grade sequence of events writing. Focus: proper capitalization, end marks, sequence order, and vivid details.

Transition Words	Level 4 At least 4 or more transition words (ex: first, then, after, and lastly) were used to summarize.	Level 3 At least 3 transition words were used to summarize.	Level 2 At least 2 transition words were used to summarize.	Level 1 Transition words were not used to summarize.
Descriptive Details	Level 4 Writer uses excellent detail from the text in their writing to make the story come alive. Vivid vocabulary was used to create a clear sequence of events.	Level 3 Writer uses good detail from their text in their writing but it could have been more detailed.	Level 2 Writer uses average detail from the text in their writing. It tells the story but the writer has not elaborated on the details of the story.	Level 1 Writer uses minimal detail elaboration in their writing.
