Organization
30% of the mark x1.5
Does not meet expectations
There is an absence of story elements or an over emphasis on informational text. Story lacks substance and does not encompass a 'year in the life.'
Meets basic expectations
There is some organization but may be difficult to follow at times. Still, effort has been made at showing a 'year in the life.'
Fully meets expectations
Information is organized into a story with effective organization that follows the 'year in the life' sequence, but may have uneven dialogue, narration and/or action.
Exceeds expectations
Information is organized into a story with very well- constructed sections that follow a logical sequence and include balanced dialogue, narration and action.
Creativity
20% of the mark x1
Does not meet expectations
The memoir lacks personality. It reads more like a report containing some facts than a personal story. Lacks character development. Lacks apparent creativity.
Meets basic expectations
The memoir attempts to engage the reader but may lose focus. Some character development, but the story does not fully engage, and/or the lack of illustrations weaken the presentation.
Fully meets expectations
The memoir has some personality. There are personal touches that are effective, but there is some lack in the finishing touches here. Still, a good presentation.
Exceeds expectations
The memoir/journal/story is believable with personal touches throughout. With a well-developed protagonist, this is engaging and enjoyable to read. Illustrations, etc., add a great touch.
