	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Great! 4 pts
Content Mastery	Poor Answer shows limited or no understanding with little or no details or examples from the reading.	Fair Answer shows some understanding by providing some un-cited details or examples from the reading.	Good Answer shows student's understanding of reading content by using some relevant "for example," cited events from the reading.	Great! Answer clearly shows student's understanding of reading content by using multiple, relevant "for examples," cited throughout the reading.
RAFT Format	Poor Student presents a RAFT that does not clearly identify a role, audience or topic. Coverage of the topic is insufficient.	Fair Student follows RAFT by properly identifying the role, audience, and topic. Topic is undeveloped.	Good Student follows RAFT by properly identifying the role, audience, and topic. The RAFT partially develops the topic using the story using in-class reading.	Great! Student follows RAFT by designing a piece(s) that make(s) evident the role, audience, and topic. The RAFT develops the topic using information from in-class reading and outside sources.
Organization	Poor The format is not developed and the content is insufficient to meet content goals.	Fair The format choice is not clear and/or not developed. Content is not well organized.	Good The format choice for the RAFT is apparent, but the proper form is not fully developed. Content is logically ordered.	Great! RAFT demonstrates appropriate organization as applied to the selected format. Content is organized in logical order.
Content vocabulary	Poor Final product contains no content vocabulary, or vocabulary is used inappropriately.	Fair Final product contains only 1-2 vocabulary terms, used appropriately	Good Final product contains 3-4 vocabulary terms, used appropriately.	Great! Final product contains 5 or more vocabulary terms, used appropriately.
Mechanics	Poor The RAFT and accompanying writing are riddled with errors which make reading and comprehending the report difficult.	Fair The RAFT and accompanying writing contains major errors which detract from the overall quality of the work.	Good The RAFT and accompanying writing contain minor errors which do not substantially detract from the overall quality of the work.	Great! The RAFT contains no typographical error, misspellings, or other grammatical or mechanical errors.
