Article Quality

Exceeds Expectations

The articles are from the same time period and "go together" well. They are thoroughly researched and sound professional/appropriate for the intended audience. The overall tone of the articles enhances the magazine.
Meets Expectations

The articles are from the same time period, but they do not necessarily go together well. Research has been conducted. The tone is appropriate, but not special.
Does Not Meet Expectations

The articles are not from the same time period. Minimal research has been conducted. The tone is inconsistent; it's obvious that the crew did not discuss the intended audience.

Layout/Design

Exceeds Expectations

The overall layout/design of the magazine enhances the magazine's message. The design is attractive, professional, and appropriate for the audience.
Meets Expectations

The overall layout/design of the magazine is appropriate. It may be boring or have a few "issues" of not following design best practices. However, it is obvious that the crew used the provided links and hard copies to research "best practices" of font size, images, and color scheme. The layout/design is appropriate for the audience.
Does Not Meet Expectations

It is obvious that the crew did not research "best practices" of design. The layout/design doesn't work, or is an unoriginal, unmodified template.

Collaboration

Exceeds Expectations

The crew worked well together throughout the entire project. Each person completed his or her assigned task to the best of his or her ability. Any conflicts were resolved within the group itself, and nobody was left out of the decision-making process. Each member took responsibility for his or her own actions without being controlling.
Meets Expectations

In general, the crew worked fairly well together throughout the entire project. Each person completed his or her assigned task to the best of his or her ability. Conflicts were resolved, but may have left some people feeling left out of the process, or may have needed teacher intervention. Each member took responsibility for his or her own actions without being controlling.
Does Not Meet Expectations

The crew did not work well together. One or two members may have "carried the load" of others. Not all members completed their assigned tasks to the best of their abilities. Conflicts were frequent, and were not resolved in a positive manner--one person controlled the group, or the teacher had to constantly intervene, or the group simply didn't function. Members did not take responsibility for themselves, instead choosing to blame each other.
