Descriptions of character reactions are realistic and believable. Reactions effectively communicate the character's feelings or that something important has happened in the story.
Motivations

Emergent

Factors that motivate a character's actions and decisions are not present.
Integrated

Attempts to connect a character's actions or decisions to a motivating factor.
Generalized

Explains a character's motivation for a decision or action, but the motivation is not realistic. Not much is learned about the character from the character's motivations.
Adapted

Descriptions clearly explain a character's behaviors and actions in the story. Both intrinsic and extrinsic motivations are present.
