The purpose of this rubric is to assess students' responses to reading in their reader's response journal.

Response	Poor Student did not include a response to the book that was read or repeated responses already turned in.	Good Student included a partial response with limited details of the book that was read. Answering some, but not all parts of the activity.	Excellent Student included a detailed response to the book that was read. Student used details directly from the story to support opinions/ Student answered all parts of the activity.
Quantity	Poor half page or less that are on topic	Good 3/4 page of well crafted sentences that are on topic	Excellent full page or more of well crafted sentences that are on topic
Capitalization and Punctuation	Poor 5+ errors in capitalization or punctuation( Beginning & ending of sentences, names and 'random capital letters)	Good 3-4 errors in capitalization or punctuation at the end of sentences.	Excellent 0-2 errors in capitalization or punctuation
