Sentence Writing Rubric
	Level 1 1 pts	Level 2 2 pts	Level 3 3 pts	Level 4 4 pts
Punctuation	Level 1 Does not consistently put ending punctuation.	Level 2 Consistently puts ending punctuation in writing.	Level 3 Adds necessary punctuation within the sentence structure.	Level 4 Is able to use colons, semicolons and quotation marks appropriately.
Content	Level 1 The ideas are unclear, inconsistent, and/or lack a central theme or purpose.	Level 2 Ideas are somewhat unclear or the attempted development is too minimal, too simple, too irrelevant or incomplete	Level 3 The writing is mostly focused and the reader can understand the main idea.	Level 4 The writing is purposefully clear and focused. It holds the reader's attention. Main ideas are supported by RELEVANT details suitable to the purpose.
Neatness / Good handwriting	Level 1 The handwriting is very bad to make for very difficult reading.	Level 2 The handwriting is not good to make for difficult reading.	Level 3 The handwriting is not so good to make for somewhat difficult reading.	Level 4 Good handwriting is evident throughout the writing sample.
Grammar	Level 1 Missing a subject or verb.	Level 2 Sentence has both a subject and verb with 2 or more errors.	Level 3 Sentence has subject and verb agreement with 1 error.	Level 4 Words used in the sentence are correct all the time.
