Body (Content) of Letter

Poor

The student does not clearly support his or her opinion about the "Dream Act" with irrelevant reasons/examples or are missing.
Fair

The student somewhat supports his or her opinion about the "Dream Act" with at least 1 partially relevant reason/example.
Good

The student mostly supports his or her opinion about the "Dream Act" with at least 1 relevant reason/example.
Excellent

The student clearly supports his or her opinion about the "Dream Act" with at least 3 relevant reasons/examples.
Spelling and Grammar

Poor

The final draft exceeds 10 spelling and/or grammar errors.
Fair

The final draft contains between 6-10 spelling and/or grammar errors.
Good

The final draft contains no more than 5 spelling and/or grammar errors.
Excellent

The final draft contains less than 2 spelling and/or grammar errors.
Format of Letter

Poor

Final draft is missing 2 or more formatting components and/or all components are completed incorrectly.
Fair

Final draft is missing 2 components and/or most components are completed incorrectly.
Good

Final draft is missing 1 of the components and/or some components are completed incorrectly.
Excellent

Final draft includes formatting components for a letter: date, salutation, closing, signature and are completed correctly.
