Melody	Excellent Student kept the main melody present in the new variation. It is obvious that the variation sounds similar to Twinkle Twinkle.	Good Student has kept most of the melody in the new variation. Parts of the variation sound similar to Twinkle Twinkle.	Satisfactory Student has some of the melody in the new variation. Parts of the variation sound similar to Twinkle Twinkle.	Needs Improvement Student does not have any of the melody present in the variation. The variation does not show any resemblance to Twinkle Twinkle.
Rhythm	Excellent Student used only rhythms that were given by instructor and used them in a varied way. There are no rhythmic errors in the composition.	Good Student used specified rhythms but had rhythmic errors in the composition.	Satisfactory Student did not use specified rhythms or may have used them incorrectly.	Needs Improvement Student did not make an attempt to use any right rhythms in any sort of correct order.
Pitch	Excellent Pitches chosen fit perfectly within the style of the variation. Pitches are notated correctly.	Good Pitches mostly suit the style of the variation with minimal errors in the notation.	Satisfactory Pitch choices do not necessarily suit the style of the variation. Notation has several errors.	Needs Improvement Little effort is shown to write a good variation. There are enough notation errors to distract the reader.
Harmony (Bells)	Excellent The harmony/chords follow the progression from the original theme. The harmony adds interest and supports the melody.	Good The harmony/chords follow the progression from the original theme. The harmony adds some interest but doesn't support the melody. The harmony clashes with the melody at times.	Satisfactory The harmony/chords do not follow the progression from the original theme but is apparent. The harmony adds some interest but doesn't support the melody and clashes with the melody. Performance	Excellent Student plays composition to the best of their ability.	Good Student plays composition mostly to the best of their ability, more practice could result in better performance.	Satisfactory Student plays the composition but does not show effort towards the performance.	Needs Improvement Student makes little or no attempt to play the composition.
