Compose and Record an original 16-bar blues piece using the Snowy Day Blues as inspiration. Students will create new lyrics and sing/record their lyrics, perform/record the blues progression, and add a drum loop track that compliments the lyrics and chord progression in Soundtrap. All three elements will be combined/recorded into Soundtrap-in school and at home.

Choreography: Students are to create original choreography based on popular dances from the decade assigned. The routine NEEDS to have noticeable movements from the original time period. Garageband: Students will research the most popular songs from their decade and will edit, mix, and fade their mash-up in Garageband to practice audio engineering skills.

Music Loop Activity
Step 1: Perform repeated Body Percussion Loop live to teacher Garageband track. Step 2: Transfer body percussion to classroom instruments (xylophones and percussion instruments). Perform live with Garageband tracks created by the students. Students will show repeated loop patterns with body/on instruments to a steady beat Garageband track. Live loop should show contrasting instrumental playing between partners to create variance from the original loop given.

Ai Hai Yo & My Dragon Song
Compose a piece of music in the style of traditional Chinese music for the B Section of Ai Hai Yo. Students must use the D Pentatonic Scale for both the accompaniment (Chrome Music Lab Song Maker) and original melody on xylophone. Student composition must reflect elements of traditional Chinese pitches, rhythms and their individual Dragon artwork.
