Hero Paper

Students are to write about someone they admire and consider a "hero". Topic of the paper must be a real person, and can either be alive or dead. The person selected can not be a rock star, rap artist or athlete.

Introduction 20 Points	Excellent Clearly states topic of paper. Utilizes a unique strategy to grasp the attention of the reader.	Good States the topic that will be presented. Limited use of attention getting strategies.	Fair States the topic to be presented.	Poor Fails to tell the reader the topic of the paper.
Focuses on topic 25 Points	Excellent Clearly presents information in an orgainzed manner. Utilizes numerous examples and at least one quote. Has significant elaborbation of the topic.	Good Stays on topic for the most part. Uses at least one example. Has some elaboration of the topic.	Fair Stays on topic, but limited elaboration, if any.	Poor Provides very little information of the topic.
Conclusion 20 Points	Excellent Clearly restates the introduction and restates the information presented.	Good Restates the topic and conclusion varies little from the introduction.	Fair Very brief conclusion, writes only one or two sentences.	Poor Does not have a conclusion.
