Craftmanship
Poor
Not able to build a model. Difficulty working with the model material and constructing a 3D piece from 2D materials.
Fair
Able to build a model but with structural problems. Difficulty with tools, materials. Excessive dried glue around showing. Misaligned parts, or obvious mistakes.
Good
Model is structurally solid. Ability to use tools and materials correctly. Some consideration to architectural details of light & texture. Walls and paper are slightly crooked. There is moderate glue showing in. Materials may be only slightly misaligned.
Excellent
Model is built structurally sound. Evidence of accurate use of tools and materials. Evidence of architectural features such as windows, doors, texture.
It is obvious that the student has taken time and care during construction. Cuts are straight and not jagged, there isn't an excessive amount of glue showing around parts.
Accuracy
Poor
Fair
Things obviously have not been measured for straightness. There are a few parts of the kit used, key elements needed are missing.
Good
All walls are strictly measured for spacing but framing for windows, doors, or corner bracing may be improper. There is one or two missing parts from each stage of construction.
Excellent
All wooden parts are strictly parallels to each other and every space between each part is equal. All phases of construction are built according to written building techniques and have the necessary number of parts to be structurally sound.
Client creation and scale
Poor
Client is not created to the scale of the model. The use of space isn't consistent with the scale picked by the students. Space isn't considered in the model as an important feature.
Fair
Client works in most of the model spaces. Some use of scale is evident. Very little thought on how the space would be used as a feature in the house.
Good
The client is created to scale and works in the house space. Most of the interior features are to scale for the client. The use of space in the house was considered some of the time
Excellent
The client easily works within the house. Scale is evident throughout the house. The use of space was thought out throughout the model. Elements of light and movement are present.
Finishing
Poor
Fair
Many little details have not been included in the model.
Good
Detail moldings are missing. The window and door frames may not be finished, But interior and exterior finishes are appropriate and look generally good.
Excellent
The models interior and exterior finish look like it may be applied to a actual sized home. Miro details like molding and exterior trim are affixed.
Presentation
Poor
Unable to present drawings and model of house. Not able to describe the thought process behind the design.
Fair
Able to present some of the drawings and the model. Unable to describe the thought process behind the design.
Good
Able to present most of the drawings. Able to describe the thought process behind the design.
Excellent
Able to present the drawings. Description of the design clearly indicates there was a thought process behind the design. The model clearly follows the design so it can be viewed in 3 dimensions.
