The journal entries sound like a real person and are consistent with the character's personality.

The journal entries demonstrate a clear level of voice that is consistent with the character's point of view. Writing has personality and sounds like a real person. Writing is expressive, engaging, and sincere.

Clear voice is present and the writing sounds somewhat expressive and engaging. Voice matches personality represented by character's thoughts and actions.
Progressing Towards Expectations

Voice is weak or inconsistent. Writing sometimes goes into 2nd and 3rd person.
Support Needed

The journal lacks consistent voice to match the character or does not sound like a real person (mechanical or too fictional).
