Diorama: Book Report

The student will create a Diorama which includes an in-depth understanding of the: setting, important characters, how/why the scene was important to the plot and moral message.

Diorama Construction	Excellent Shows considerable attention to construction. All items neatly trimmed & securely attached. No stray marks or smudges.	Good Shows attention to construction. Almost all items neatly & securely attached. A few barely noticeable stray marks or smudges.	Fair Shows little attention to construction. Not all items securely attached & is a bit messy. Some noticeable stray marks or smudges.	Poor Poorly constructed. Most items not securely attached. Smudges, stains, rips, uneven edges, and /or stray marks.
Diorama Detail	Excellent Explains all required details of the book, including: characterization, plot, story arc, and conflict. It is obvious that characters & landscape were from the book.	Good Somewhat depicts a scene from the book. It is obvious that characters & landscape were from the book.	Fair Can not easily distinguish the scene as one from the book. Characters & landscape were not very recognizable.	Poor Diorama does not relate to the book.
Diorama Creativity	Excellent Multiple & appropriate colors used. Several of the 3-D objects used in the diorama reflect exceptional student creativity in the creation and/or display.	Good A few different colors used. A few of the 3-D objects used in the diorama reflect student creativity in the creation and/or display.	Fair Some range of color used, but not always accurately.<BR> One or two objects were made or customized by the student, but were typical rather than creative.	Poor Almost no color used or was used inaccurately.
Story Elements	Excellent Diorama includes 6 or more story elements, each different.	Good Diorama includes 4-5 different elements.	Fair Diorama includes 3 different elements.	Poor Diorama includes fewer than 3 different elements.
Depth of Detail	Excellent Explanation shows great understanding of the book, it's deeper moral message, and communicates theses clearly and effectively.	Good Explanation shows acceptable understanding of the book, it's deeper moral message, and communicates theses somewhat.	Fair Explanation shows some understanding of the book, but may miss the moral message. Ideas may be missing or too vague.	Poor Explanation shows very little understanding of the book and moral message.
