Poor

The hypothesis is not relevant to the lab, confused, only partially written.
Fair

The hypothesis states a prediction, but there is little evidence of any background knowledge.
Good

Fair

Procedure is not listed step by step.

Control and variable are identified.
Good

Procedure is listed step by step, but some steps are missing.Control and variables are identified and labeled.
Excellent

Procedure is listed step by step and is very detailed.Control and variables are identified and labeled to aid with data.
DATA
10 pts

Each team will record the data from the three fishing trials in a chart. The teams, with help from the teacher, will construct a bar graph to show their results.

Poor

Data tables are incomplete. Graphs missing.
Fair

Data tables are incomplete or contain errors. Graphs are not appropriate or incomplete.
Good

Data is organized. Graphs are appropriate but incomplete.
Excellent

Data table(s) is /are well organized. Clear and easy to understand. Appropriate graphs are used with titles, labels and units.

Good

Results are complete and accurate with mention of something specific in the experiment.
Excellent

Results are complete and accurate with specific details that tie the question and hypothesis to the overall results.
CONCLUSIONS
10 pts

Poor

Conclusion shows little effort, or confused and no reflection.
Fair

Conlusion is missing one or two key points.
Good

Conclusions include basic explanations of your results, whether hypothesis is supported or not, and what you learned
