TV and Video Production - Demonstration Video

Student is to put together a story from the CATE courses they was assigned to research. These stories will be a part of their final newscast show recording. All the skill sets they learned this semester will be showcased. Student is to turn in a final verbatim script of their story for the final newscast recording. This will be typed inside the TelePrompTer for the anchor of the show to read. Project was due by Friday, December 9th.

Topic/Content	Excellent Topic thoroughly covered in an interesting and creative manner	Fair Some steps were not included, or explained	Poor Minimal, if any, effort
Basic Camera Skills and Shots	Excellent Footage steady and in focus;no headroom or alignment errors. Creative shots used for a purpose: basic sequence, matching action, over the shoulder, plus a variety of distances and angles	Fair 1 or 2 errors that could not be removed in editing. Some parts are difficult to watch. A few long stretches of time where it would have been good to change shots. No real variety	Poor Errors make viewing difficult and not much beyond pointing and shooting
Editing	Excellent Shots left in serve a purpose; transitions and special effects used when necessary. Sound/audio is easy to hear and consistent.	Fair Lack of or over-use in several areas; long scene which is not necessary. Sound/audio could have been edited better to make levels consistent.	Poor Minimal effort to improve quality of footage through editing. Sound/audio is difficult to hear through the entire video and makes the demonstration useless.
Deadline and Length	Excellent All filming and production appointments and deadlines met and video is the appropriate length with 5 -7 steps.	Fair A reminder or reschedule necessary because of student(s)error. Video is too short or too long (more than 2 minutes) and contains less than 5 steps.	Poor Video not finished by deadline.
Script Writing	Excellent Script very detailed, followed and revisions noted.	Fair A few areas of the script are planned, but more effort could have been put into the script.	Poor Hardly any effort in planning and in creating the script.
