Characters	1 Student cannot identify either character by name and cannot give any details about them.	2 Student can only identify one of the characters by name, and can give little or no details about either character.	3 Student can idenitify both characters by name and can give some details about at least one of them.	4 Student can identify both characters by name and can give specific details about both of them.
Setting	1 Student cannot identify where the story takes place.	2 Student can identify where the story takes place, but cannot give any details about it.	3 Student can identify where the story takes place and can give at least one detail about it.	4 Student can identify where the story takes place and cang give two or more details about it.
Problem	1 Student cannot identify any problem in the story.	2 Student can identify one minor problem in the story.	3 Student can identify more than one minor problem in the story.	4 Student can identify the major problem in the story.
Events	1 Student cannot identify any events in the story.	2 Student can identify one event that happened in the story.	3 Student can identify several events that happened in the story.	4 Student can identify the events that happened at the beginning, middle and end of the story.
