Character Comparisons

Students will be graded on their abilities of creating a Venn Diagram that compares and contrasts themselves to the character Thomas from Rain School. The criteria that the students will be graded are; proper construction of the Venn Diagram, correct grammar and spelling, the number of compare and contrast details provided, and the accuracy of the details in the Venn Diagram. The columns show up to how many points students can be awarded depending if they meet the criteria.

Venn Diagram	Above Level The Venn Diagram has been completed with enough detail to show they have a good grasp of the characters.	On Level The Venn Diagram is completed but has some information placed in the wrong section. Shows they have some understanding the characters.	Approaching Level The Venn Diagram has some missing details and/or details in the wrong section . Shows that they have a little understanding of the characters.	Below Level The Venn Diagram was not completed or completed with most of the information in the wrong sections. They do not have a good grasp of the characters.
Correct Grammar and Spelling	Above Level All content in the Venn Diagram has no spelling errors, or grammatical errors.	On Level The content of the Venn Diagram has up to two spelling and/or two grammatical errors.	Approaching Level The content in the Venn Diagram has up to four spelling and/or grammatical errors.	Below Level The content in the Venn Diagram has over five spelling and/or grammatical errors.
Details & Accurarcy	Above Level 4+ compare and contrast details provided accurately in each circle	On Level 3 compare and contrast details provided accurately in each circle. Handwriting	Above Level Paper is very neat. No problems reading any portion of assignment.	On Level Paper can be read without any problems.	Approaching Level Somewhat easier to read but still have trouble with some words/sentences.	Below Level Have a hard time reading child's work.
