Diorama: Better Than a Book Report

The student will create a Diorama which includes a favorite scene in the book (setting, important characters, how/why the scene was important to the plot), tell about the elements in their diorama and how they are related to the scene.

Diorama	Meets & Exceeds Standard Represents a scene from the book. It is realistic and creative. All work is presented neatly.	Meets Standard Represents a scene from the book. It is realistic and creative. Work is a bit sloppy.	Approaching Standard Represents a scene from the book but it is not realistic or creative.	Does Not Meet the Standard Diorama does not depict a scene from the book.
Index card	Meets & Exceeds Standard Contains a few sentences about the diorama scene. Sentences are grammatically correct with no spelling errors.	Meets Standard Contains a few sentences about the diorama scene, but has spelling and/or grammar errors.	Approaching Standard Sentences on the index card are not related to the diorama scene.	Does Not Meet the Standard There is no index card.
Oral Presentation	Meets & Exceeds Standard Student speaks clearly and is easy to understand. Student makes eye contact and is able to communicate about the book they read.
