Crossword Puzzle

Students will create at least a 10 word crossword puzzle from the current unit. The puzzle must be the student's original work and should include key vocabulary.

Number of Words	Poor Puzzle includes five words or less.	Fair Puzzle includes at least six to seven words.	Good Puzzle includes at least eight to nine words.	Excellent Puzzle includes ten or more words.
Knowledge Gained	Poor Author could easily and correctly define five words or less used in the puzzle.	Fair Author could easily and correctly define six to seven words used in the puzzle.	Good Author could easily and correctly define eight to nine used in the puzzle.	Excellent Author could easily and correctly define all words used in the puzzle.
Definitions	Poor Five or less definitions are clear or accurate.	Fair Six to seven definitions are clear and accurate.	Good Eight to ten definitions are clear and accurate.	Excellent All definitions are clear and accurate.
Layout	Poor Four words or less connect in the puzzle, AND / OR words in the list do not match words in the puzzle.	Fair Layout of puzzle allows for five to seven words to connect across or down, AND / OR some words listed do not match the position of the words within the puzzle.	Good Layout of puzzle allows for eight to ten words to connect across or down, AND words listed match the position of the words within the puzzle.
