Writing Rubric
	Excellent 5 pts	Good 4 pts	Satisfactory 3 pts	Needs Improvement 2 pts
Completion/Communication 5 pts	Excellent Displays fully detailed sentences in the target language and contains limited errors (1-2) that do not prohibit communication.	Good Writer included somewhat detailed sentences. Writing is generally logical. Most information is included. Errors made (3-4) force the reader to interpret information from the writing.	Satisfactory Satisfactory detail in sentences but has left out some key components of the writing task. Errors (5-6) begin to make the text difficult to comprehend for the reader.	Needs Improvement Minimum standard of completion reached. Key components are omitted and show minimum understanding. Many sentences contain errors (7-8) and prohibit communication.
Comprehensibility 5 pts	Excellent Readers can understand what the writer is trying to communicate the majority of the time. Vocabulary and grammar are used correctly with minimal errors (1-2).	Good Readers can understand most of what the writer is trying to communicate. Mostly correct use of vocabulary and grammar with some errors (3-4).	Satisfactory Readers can understand less than half of what the writer is trying to communicate and must rely on interpretation. Inconsistent use of vocabulary and grammar with several errors (5-6).	Needs Improvement Readers can understand a minimal amount of what the writer is trying to communicate. Understanding is heavily reliant upon reader interpretation and the sample has a plethora of errors (7-8).
Target Language Use 5 pts	Excellent The writer stays in the target language throughout and uses correct word order & script use with minimal errors (1-2).	Good The writer usually uses correct word order & script use with some errors (3-4).	Satisfactory The writer displays inconsistency with word order & script use with several errors (5-6).	Needs Improvement The writer had demonstrated a minimum standard of accuracy. Many errors in word order & script use (7-8).
