Advisory Class Grading Rubric Class Participation Rubric Below is a rubric that can be used to evaluate the student throughout a class discussion. Rubric Code: HXCA2A9 By steve_collins Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: (General) Type: (Other) Grade Levels: 6-8, 9-12

Class Participation
	Excellent 4 pts	Good 3 pts	Fair 2 pts	Poor 1 pts
ATTITUDE/BEHAVIOR	Excellent EXCELLENT Student has excellent attitude and a willingness to learn & participate	Good GOOD Student often has positive attitude and a willingness to learn & participate	Fair FAIR Student may or may not have a positive attitude, sometimes willing to learn and participate	Poor POOR Student does not come to class with a positive attitude, not willing to learn or participate
PUNCTUALITY	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is on time and sitting ready to start.	Good GOOD Student is on time but not ready to start class.	Fair FAIR Student is on time and disruptive to other students ready to start class.	Poor POOR Student is late and disrupts class by entering late.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT/ PARTICIPATION	Excellent EXCELLENT Student often asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions.	Good GOOD Student sometimes asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions.	Fair FAIR Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions.	Poor POOR Student never participates in class, does not participate in pair/group discussions.
PREPARATION	Excellent EXCELLENT Student is always prepared for class with assignments and required materials punctually.	Good GOOD Student is usually prepared for class with assignments and required materials	Fair FAIR Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials.	Poor POOR Student is almost always unprepared for class with assignments.
JOURNAL/ WRITING ACTIVITIES	Excellent EXCELLENT Student always completes assigned journal and writing activities in full. Writing is of good quality and addresses the prompt	Good GOOD Student mostly completes assigned journal and writing activities in full- With some exceptions. Writing is generally of good quality and addresses the prompt	Fair FAIR Student sometimes completes assigned journal and writing activities, or activities completed may be brief and/or of questionable quality.	Poor POOR Student does not demonstrate desire to complete journal activities. Work submitted is of poor quality and/ or does not attempt to address prompt.
